Nightingales : glam-tastic new video, hilarious, in-depth radio interview and UK tour dates for February…
The band that will not die, but just get better and better – Post-punk, prole-art, glam-stomp, booze-hound rock’n’roll in a category of its own – the Nightingales, lead by legendary gentleman-nutter Robert Lloyd are back in action.
Released on 27th January 2017 on 10″ Vinyl – Tiny Global Productions (PICI-0007-D) came a new mini LP ‘Become Not Becoming – five tracks: B-Side At Best, In, Too Posh To Push, The Divorce That Never Was, Booze And Broads And Beauty and Drown. And here is the garish, slightly disturbing new video for one track. Lookout, as ever for Fliss Kitson, one of the most amazing drummers you will ever see.
Nightingales also appeared recently on Davis Travis’ Freak Scene on the marvellous Brum Radio (the whole show is archived on Soundcloud for your listening pleasure and embedded below, with DT’s permission).
Throughout the (nearly 2 hour) show Robert Lloyd tells his version of the story of his life, bands and times from 1976 up to the present day, taking in opinions and tales concerning the Prefects, the Clash, Damned, Nico, Fuzzbox, Peel, Stewart Lee and Ted Chippington and many more.
It is a fascinating, hilarious interview with Lloyd on slightly-lubricated, good form. Aided and abetted by Fliss and Jim from the ‘Gales. Dave Travis plays a brilliant selection of tracks chosen by and featuring the cult bands cult band. If you’ve got a couple of hours, sit back and enjoy…
….and be sure to catch the Nightingales live. A band truly on top form.
