Wild Nothing

An arena setting isn’t where you would expect Wild Nothing to shine, but they bring their beautiful tunes to life tonight.
Wild Nothing’s dreamy blissed out tracks are not what you’d immediately envisage as the perfect support band for the Kings Of Leon, but tonight they quietly make their way on to this humongous stage. The vast and cold arena is quickly filling with intrigued revellers, with a small few crowding the front barriers.
The softly spoken Jack Tatum greets the crowd before they set about playing a plethora of their laidback tracks. As they open with the brilliant Summer Holiday, they instantly begin to win the ever increasing crowd over. Whilst their sound isn’t made for these huge rooms those lucky enough to be close to the stage get the full effect of these beautiful songs.
The likes of Disappear Always and Shadow are highlights of the bands short set. Whilst it isn’t the rabble-rousing stadium indie anthems that many of the crowd are expecting from the Kings Of Leon, it’s a very accomplished set. Whilst it may be lost on those further back, those willing to listen are clearly enjoying the bands chilled out riffs.
As they close out on the delicate To Know You, it caps an awesome opening set and whilst it doesn’t invoke mass sing-alongs. Wild Nothing put on a brilliant show and remind us why they’re such a great band, we can only hope they come back soon, and perhaps in somewhere slightly more intimate.
